#cluttercleanup 2024. Pastel Station, Round 2

Circling back to the pastels problem.

Last week, I gave up on attempting to organize them:
I printed out the sketch and colored it in with the corresponding pastels. I didn't do this on the original sketch because too messy.
As I did that, I put the pastels with their pastel friends in the boxes and drawers.

Lo and behold, I found MORE at the bottom of the pile:
I was ready to give up again, yet I soldiered on.

I have a lot of pastels!

At some point, I will slowly go through them and sort as a proper rainbow of colors.

Let's pause to examine the retro graphics on the cover of the box in the upper right above:

I cleaned up my drawing area, it was getting very dusty, and I was getting confused with what stick was what color.
I made myself two trays - one for sunrise sketches, and one for "golden California hills" (the next theme I want to draw):
Ready to go!
Today's pastel drawing:

available
I still have a pile of random sticks - I think this might be the result of a bunch that fell out of a box.
When I'm in a super organizey mood, I'll tackle them.

#cluttercleanup 2024. Paper Work

The shelf that holds my large Epson printer is arm's length from my desk and has an enticing catch-all ledge.
The pile of papers had developed into a precarious stack that I kept brushing with my arm.

So precarious that it fell over while I was adding color to my sketch.
The sketch:
Keep calm and tidy on!
Yes, I'll admit I already put a piece of mail there after taking this photo.
Very difficult to keep horizontal areas clutter-free!

#cluttercleanup 2024. Making the Bed

This was a major achievement.
I finally ordered a bed frame to get my mattress off the floor.
It arrived on Monday.
I couldn't deal with it then, today I was at least going to sketch it!

Sketch and bed:

Sketch:

I was determined to get this DONE!
I put it together this evening.

Success! Fairly easy assembly.
Wrestling the mattress onto it was much harder.

With the contoured bottom sheet, pillow, and "headboard"
(one of those triangular post-surgury pillows)
I made my bed and slept in it.
Yay me!

The frame is manufactured by KD Frames. It's a Twin Trestle, made of Tulip Poplar wood. I left the wheels off.

If a project is not finished, it's clutter!

Sketch and clutter:

Nothing is finished yet.
I'll update you if anything is accomplished.

#cluttercleanup 2024. Pastel Station

I started doing pastel landscapes back in December for a 100 day creative challenge.

In preparation, when I pulled all the pastels out, there were a couple of random collections from previous drawing sessions.
Exhibit A: a box left untouched since the last time I used pastels, 2010, during an art retreat in Temecula.

Exhibit B: I have no idea why these are on this plate:

Maybe I'll do more with this, maybe not...

#cluttercleanup 2024. Desk Clutter

Apparently, I was so excited about cleaning up my desk, I forgot to take a good Before photo. Oops.

Desk and sketch:

#cluttercleanup 2024. Craft Table

My craft table had turned into the 2023 year in review/ 2024 goals planning station.

I was still working on art projects amidst all this, hence the cassette tape, upper left.

Sketched:

[1/9. I realize that I'd like to include a photo of the tidied conclusion of this process. Will start where I can. This table is still a mess! I DID move all this into my office, see 1/4 link. One planner has drifted back to the table because it really likes living there. Not that it's doing me any good!]
Here's how the same area looks today, more crafty:

#cluttercleanup 2024. Random dividers.

My pal Rachel is also on the Declutter Jamboree and was getting rid of some office supplies.
I raised my hand for them. I always have a use for binder things.

#cluttercleanup 2024. Under the bed.

New year, renewed effort to get the place tidy for Lunar New Year (deadline 2/9).

Let's sketch the process!

The first order of business is to put a decluttering cure under the bed.
Oh look! There are two old envelopes there already!

I am following the Declutter Jamboree, a course with Katie Rogers.
There is still time to sign up, here.
The sketch:
Katie says she burns hers one week before LNY.
But what if there's money in one?

I used this same "sketch it then tidy it" process for an earlier decluttering, in 2015.
For some reason, I posted the series on my Glutton blog (shrugs). Here's the link.
