Waterlogued at Harbor General

I had a good suspicion that my new favorite App, Waterlogue, would be a great distraction for killing time.
I've shown my Waterlogue experiments on my On the Edge and SpyGirl blogs, but this is my first time showing it here.

It was time for my semi-annual oncology appointment, which includes a blood draw one day prior. I no longer need to meet with a doctor and now go to the Tuesday "maintenance" clinic and meet with a nurse practitioner. [I'm fine, by the way].

Herewith follow scenes from various waiting areas, filtered through Waterlogue.

I really like how the watercolor style softens the harsh edges of the hospital.

I used the (not very good) camera on the iPad to shoot the original photos and added my signature in the Brushes App.

mini: Barbie flipflop

It's the start of another ArtHouse Sketchbook Project. The theme for May/June is "mini". (I signed up for their "Sketchbook of the Month" series, so every month I'm getting a new blank Moleskine sketchbook with a theme assigned for the month.)

The envelope from ArtHouse was teeny tiny and inside was a 4-1/8 x 2-1/2" black Moleskine Volant Notebook, Xsmall (amz aff)



So cute! I love small items! I decided to start with a sketch of the Barbie flipflop that Juan sent me as my "prize" for winning week 13 in the "Found It: Urban Artifacts" FaceBook group. I'm going to draw my prize winning find next.
I've chosen ink and prisma pencil as the media for this book.







It makes me chuckle that I'm starting this book with a shoe drawing while still working (sort of -- fallen WAY out of the habit) on the "shoes" book.

Love the metal caps on these. My wooden clogs tend to get all split at the toe + these are protected. Also good for kicking dolts that step on me in clubs.

additional field notes:
while I was sketching this, an older man (clearly under the influence of strong meds -- HE mentioned vicoden) started lurching around right in front of me, peeling off outergarments, saying "it's awful hot in here." I was seriously worried that it would get ugly fast, but thankfully his fit passed and he went elsewhere.
